Certifications
Sport Pilot Certificate
Eligibility: A Student Sport Pilot must have 15 hours dual training and 5
hours of solo flight.
A Student Sport Pilot must pass the FAA knowledge test, oral and practical test
Once the above have been completed the
Privileges of a Sport Pilot may operate a two seat Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) and take a passenger. The Sport
Pilot must operate under the Light Sport Aircraft rules and regulations. LSA
aircraft include weight shift control, fixed wing, amphibian and motor glider.
There are several sub-categories within each main category and each requires a
separate logbook endorsement.
Ultralight Association Pilot Endorsement
Eligibility: An Ultralight Pilot must have a minimum of 10 hours dual and at least 3 solo hours.
Requirements: Pass the practical and oral test. Pass ultralight pilot written
test with at least 75% correct answers.
Cost: $39.95 Membership and $25.00 Pilot Registration fee.
Privileges: Operate a single seat aircraft for the purpose of recreational
flying weighing no more than 254 lb. With a fuel capacity of no more than 5
gallons and top speed that does not exceed 55 knots and a power off stall speed
that does not exceed 24 knots. In accordance with FAR 103
Basic Flight Instructor (BFI) Endorsements For
Ultralight
Eligibility: ASC( Aero Sport Connection) Have a min. of 40 hours solo.
EAA (Experimental Aircraft Association) Have a min. of 100 hours total combined
flight time.
USUA (United States Ultralight Association) Have a min. of 100 hours total
combined flight time.
Requirements: Take a min. of 10 hours dual flight instruction BFI training
$130.00/hr.
Take a min. of 5 hours ground instruction BFI training $50.00/hr.
Pre-test course to enable you to pass the Fundamentals of Instruction written test (FOI).
Pre-test course to enable you to pass the practical and oral.
Pre-test course to enable you to pass the BFI written test 85% correct answers.
Cost: $200.00 per course
$200.00 Association fee + membership $39.00 a
year
Privileges: Two-place operation for the purpose of instruction in an aircraft
weighing no more than 496 lb. With a fuel capacity of no more than 10 gallons, a
top speed of 75 knots, and a power off stall speed that does not exceed 35 knots
calibrated air speed. 1n accordance with FAR 103 and Exemption.
