bullet This is a trike designed in the USA with a touring motorcycle like comfort, quality, and styling in mind. Special attention has been given to make the back seat comfortable and supportive for hour after hour of training or touring flight operations.
bullet The Monsoon AS-IV features a weight bearing floor board which has a very low entry and exit point.
bullet The contoured wide cushioned seats take off any pressure points while in the trike.
bullet The angled mast creates a roomy back seat that makes for an excellent training and touring platform.
bullet The standard tall windshield provides very effective protection against the wind.
bullet Tundra tires on all three wheels provide the spring leaf suspension extra give and absorption.
bullet Large wheel pants with fins provide cleanliness to the Tundra tires and act to add directional stability at high speed.
bullet All wheel hydraulic aircraft disc brakes with parking lock provide great stopping capability as with all Apollo trikes.
bullet The large air scoop on the bottom of the trike fairing routes air to the radiator.

Safety

Ballistic Recovery System whole aircraft parachute is STANDARD. The installation is kept very clean and integrated into the design of the Monsoon trike from the start. the Monsoon was designed with training in mind, therefore, the BRS is a standard safety feature of the Monsoon. The Monsoon is the first and only S-LSA trike with a BRS standard for the US market.

The Monsoon trike is made with aircraft grade Aluminum alloy tubing, welded steel brackets, gussets and supports.

Apollo uses metric class 8.8 hardware that is custom plated.

The main landing gear is one piece solid leaf 7075 T-6 Aluminum. This is similar to what you'd find on many GA airplanes. From the very first flight the Sport Pilot will feel the amazing suspension reducing peak loads transferred to other components. This is very important to the wing on those not so nice landings.

All three wings offered on the Monsoon exceed ASTM standards and two have also passed the DULV German certification. To further keep the fleet safe, a fully documented manual set and safety bulletins and directives are part of the on-going airworthiness regimen offered by Apollo North America, Inc.

Dual Controls are standard on all Monsoon AS-IV trikes they also include an engine kill switch, along with a remote engine start.

Aero-Tuff ASTM compliant seat belts and re-coil shoulder harness.

A tall windshield is standard.

5-position adjustable back steering comes standard and is removable.

A cruise hand throttle is reachable from the back seat by an instructor.

The trike pilot foot throttle is standard in every machine. An instructor can lock out the pilot front foot throttle.

The pilot brake pedal can be locked out during the very first hours of a student Sport Pilots training.

The front foot pedals are adjustable with 6 positions in less than a minute for pilot comfort.

Circuit breakers that isolate electrical faults are standard.

FAR 23 lighting (position plus anti-collision lights in one) are an option that can be installed on the wheel pants fins for safety and visibility.

A quick drain valve for fuel drainage and pre-flight fuel contamination check is located under the trike.

Avionics, lighting, electrical wiring harness and choices

Monsoon AS-IV comes standard with Stratomaster Ultra XL monochrome glass panel that provides everything from engine monitoring to fuel flow calculation to all VFR flight instruments. All engine sensors culminate cleanly at a remote unit called the RDAC (Remote Data Acquisition Computer) that is located closer to the engine and then one data cable runs from the the RDAC to the actual panel screen that carries data in serialized binary format. Ultra XL allows a user to remove items that are not needed on the screen and change position of the items on the screen as well as change some fonts on the screen.

Wiring harness is made with tefzel coated aircraft wire and milspec crimps that run all the way from the engine compartment to all avionics. The wiring harness is protected with on dash circuit breakers for every single component. A ground seeking aircraft master solenoid shuts everything cold for safety. These characteristics are not so common on most trikes. Some of the most expensive trikes do not offer this level of aircraft craftsmanship and avionics choices.

Panel Options

State of the art panel options available for the Monsoon AS-IV lead the Trike industry for Weight Shift Control S-LSA aircraft.  Options include, color EFIS with aviation GPS built-in, AHRS sensor for the color EFIS for attitude and turn and bank indication, MicroAir T2000 mode C transponder, MicroAir M760 transceiver radio or XCOM transceiver radio that can work on changing frequencies from color EFIS screen, panel mounted intercom from Flycom UK if provided by the customer before delivery.

Please note that Flycom UK does not have dealers and sells direct to customers. As such we recommend that customers buy this excellent open cockpit communication system directly from Flycom UK and send it to us so that we can install the intercom in for you. The intercom interfaces via a custom wiring harness with the transceivers.
